Dr Spleen on Prognosis

13 March 2008 by Dr.Spleen

Who is the best person to decide on how long it takes to get better from a sprained neck ?

I have heard experienced Doctors say that it should take but a few days or weeks, whilst other Experts have said that recovery will never be complete. Do Orthopaedic Surgeons have a greater ability to decide than General Practitioners ? What about the treating Physiotherapists records contradicting the Medical Report ?   The Solicitors may also have their own opinion, as does the Injured Party.

Frustratingly, the medical literature often seems to be at odds with common sense and medical experience which further can be used to challenge my position. In summary, how do I get it right ? I suppose that depends upon what I consider to be “right”.

Does this mean keeping out of Court, or keeping the Solicitors & their client happy, or providing a medical opinion & prognosis that I am professionally satisfied with ….. or all of these.

Was going to Medical School of any use at all ….?
