EEG’s are available throughout the UK. Premex Services has a network of highly convenient locations in which an EEG may be carried out.
What are EEG brain scans?
EEG is short for electroencephalogram, also known as a brain waive test. An EEG records the minute electrical impulse’s produces by the activity of the brain.
How does an EEG brain scan work?
A number of small electrodes are placed on the scalp over different regions of the brain, the electrodes then carry information about the brain’s electrical activity to an amplifier. A special machine amplifies the electrical activity of the brain a million times and produces a pattern of tracing called an electroencephalogram.
What are EEG brain scans used for?
The EEG is used to evaluate sleep disorders and to determine the causes of periods of unconsciousness. An EEG is also used to diagnose seizure disorders such as epilepsy, confusion, brain tumours, head injuries, degenerative diseases, and metabolic or chemical disturbances that affect the brain.
