What is an Ultrasound scan?
Diagnostic Ultrasound is a non-invasive imaging modality using high frequency sound waves to produce images of various soft tissue structures within the body. A wide range of examinations is undertaken including: abdominal examination, pelvic examination, breast examination, thyroid and eye examination, trans rectal examination/biopsy of prostate. Ultrasound has been used in a variety of clinical settings, including obstetrics.
