Charitable Activities

Premex Group recognises that it has a responsibility and valuable role to play within it's local community.

Tree Appeal

Tree Appeal - LogoIn June 2008, Premex Group became a Corporate Partner of Tree Appeal. Tree Appeal plants trees to promote biodiversity, create habitats and improve the environment for people. Trees are paid for and planted by corporate partners - businesses that want to make a positive contribution to the environment.

Through Tree Appeal, Premex Group will plant 400 trees in local schools and educational facilities in 2008 - increasing this to at least 500 plantations in 2009. With the help of Tree Appeal Premex Group hope to improve the environment, creating new habitats in and around its locality.

Premex "Go - Ape"

Go Ape - FailsworthOn the 8th July 2008, Premex Group sponsored a rewarding day at "Go-Ape" in Delamere Forest for a selection of pupils from Failsworth High School.

Each of the pupils who went to Go-Ape had attended extra lessons which had been arranged by the school during dinner times and after school in order to ensure they achieved the best results possible at GCSE.

A great day was had by all.

FSC Paper

As Premex Group continues to focus on its Corporate Social Responsibility, Premex Services has replaced all its letterheaded paper stock with FSC accredited paper. Using around 5 million pieces of paper a year, Premex Services will save in excess of 600 trees by changing over the the recycled and sustained forest stock.

Keeble Hawson

keeble hawsonOn the 17th July 2008, Keeble Hawson Solicitors based in Sheffield, hosted a charity fashion show in aid of St Luke's Hospice. Premex Group donated a wine selection and tickets to see Paul Weller at the MEN arena.

Local businesses were used to supply and model the clothing used in the show. The evening raised over £600.

Ashton Morton Slack

In September 2008, Ashton Morton Slack Solicitors are holding a charity auction in aid of Headway, a charity set up to give help and support to people affected by brain injury. The event is to be held at The Long Room in Sheffield and Premex Group have donated four Manhcester United tickets with hospitality towards the raffle.

Bolton Lads and Girls ClubBLAGC

blg club - logoPremex Services is a Premier Patron of the Bolton Lads and Girls club. Supporting the club over a number of years Premex regularly attends its annual charitable event.

Bolton Lads and Girls Club aims to help the young people of today become happy, caring and responsible citizens of tomorrow. The club facilitates giving children and young people the opportunity to have regular contact with non-judgmental, caring adults who encourage them to be positive and make constructive use of their leisure time, empathise with them and support them through any challenges, changes and difficulties they face.

Fancy Dress Donations

fancy dress donationsAt the recent 80's themed Premex Group Summer Party 2008, a fancy dress competition was held and won by Paul Miller, dressed as a Ghost Buster. Paul was challenged by the Chief Executive of the Premex Group, Simon Margolis, to wear the same outfit all week at work in return for a donation to a charity of his choice.

By the end of the night "Crystal Carrington" (Stef Dolan) and the Karate Kid (Owen Coombes) had also been set the challenge, this resulted in Premex having three fancy dressed staff members in the office all week. All three duly wore their outfits and received a £600 donation to send to the Anthony Nolan Trust.

Premex Annual Charity Cancer Research Cheque

cancer research uk donationEach year at Premex, a main charity is selected from a selection of employee nominations. All money raised by the Group throughout the year through in-house events and any external fundraising is then donated to the selected charity.

In 2008, Premex Group raised £3,487 for Cancer Research UK, the world's leading independent organisation dedicated to cancer research. Cancer Research UK carries out a considerable amount of research here in the Northwest in order to improve our understanding of cancer and develop better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat the disease.

In previous years, Pendlebury Children's Hospice and the Bolton Hospice were both selected as the Group charity.

Belvedere Juniors

Premex have sponsored the Burnley Belvedere Junior Football Team for over six years. The team have throughout this period been sponsored by Premex which has enabled them to buy three football kits, training equipment (cones, ladders, bibs etc.), match and training balls and drinks bottles.

The team have been very successful over the last six years winning their league and cup competitions on a number of occasions.

Kilimanjaro Climb

Premex donated a £1,000 to Beth Jones from Silverbeck Rymer Solicitors, who climbed Kilimanjaro for the Marie Curie foundation. After 8 days of continuous climbing, which included free climbing and a final 16 hour late night climb, Beth reached the summit. Beth said it was one of the hardest things she had ever done but did not sustain any long lasting injuries. Beth aims to raise £5,000 for the Marie Curie Foundation and is well on the way to achieving her goal. Congratulations Beth!

Premex Christmas Party

The Premex Group's 2008 Christmas party was held at the Moat House in Bolton and themed on 'The Glammies'. The evening was full of fun and suprises, the best of all being Premex Services' Managing Director Donald Fowler, taking to the stage in his kilt to perform a unique version of '500 miles' by the Proclaimers. Donald's act of bravery raised a magnificent £1,000 in aid of research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Action Duchenne represents families affected by the most severe form of muscular dystrophy, Duchenne.
